ARVAL Inspiring Fair

Presentations that inspire action: Lean Presentation Design at ARVAL

ARVAL Inspiring Fair – online Lean Presentation Design session

MLC brought Lean Presentation Design to ARVAL Inspiring Fair through an online session led by Maurizio La Cava.

A practical conversation about how to make key messages stand out, stay with the audience and inspire action.

CLIENT BACKGROUND

ARVAL BNP Paribas Group hosted MLC as part of its Inspiring Fair, an initiative where colleagues share passions, skills and experiences to learn from one another.

The session brought presentation design into this learning culture, with the support of the Learning & Development team and a focus on everyday communication.

CHALLENGE

Make the message last. Presentations can take hours to prepare yet leave little behind after the meeting.

Work within limited time and space. Decide what deserves attention, what to remove and how to organise it.

See the presentation through the audience’s eyes. Move beyond using a tool to communicating ideas that people can understand and remember.

EXECUTIVE SUMMARY

ARVAL invited MLC to bring Lean Presentation Design into its Inspiring Fair through an online keynote led by Maurizio La Cava.

Challenge

Help colleagues make everyday presentations clearer and ensure that key messages stand out and stay with their audience.

Solution

An online Lean Presentation Design session covering audience awareness, the knowledge paradox, focus points and heatmaps.

RESULT

SOLUTION

Maurizio La Cava, CEO and co-founder of MLC, delivered an online session titled “Lean Presentation Design: Create effective presentations that inspire action.”

The session introduced MLC’s approach to making presentations clearer and more efficient: choose what matters, decide what should stand out and build the message around the people receiving it.

The MLC Approach

Start with the audience. Consider what colleagues need to understand, rather than everything the presenter knows.

Choose before designing. Use limited time and slide space to prioritise the key message.

Guide attention. Connect focus points and visual hierarchy with the way people read a slide.

The insight

Knowing a topic well can make it harder to see where others need explanation. The knowledge paradox offers a useful lens for revisiting a presentation from the audience’s perspective.

Lean Presentation Design turns that perspective into practical choices: simplify the content, give the key message a clear focus and make the presentation easier to follow.

The Process

The online session connected the everyday challenge of preparing presentations with a set of concrete design principles.

The themes highlighted in ARVAL’s feedback were limited time and space, the knowledge paradox, focus points, heatmaps and the importance of the audience.

These concepts provide a way to question how attention is distributed across a slide. The MLC Heatmap Generator is a related resource for exploring visual attention when reviewing presentation layouts.

RESULTS

Practical ideas recognised by the client. ARVAL’s post-event message singled out the concepts discussed during the session and described them as guidance for more effective communication.

Presentation design within a shared learning culture. The Inspiring Fair gave colleagues an opportunity to engage with MLC’s method in an online format.

Positive feedback from Learning & Development. A. M. thanked Maurizio La Cava, the MLC team and the Learning & Development team for bringing valuable content to colleagues.

CONCLUSION

The ARVAL Inspiring Fair session addressed a familiar business challenge: investing time in presentations whose message does not always stay with the audience.

By bringing Lean Presentation Design into an online learning event, MLC helped put audience awareness, content selection and visual attention at the centre of the conversation. ARVAL’s feedback captured the immediate value of those ideas for everyday communication.
