Elbow connectors are especially useful for organization charts, workflows and dependency maps.<\/p>\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><span class=\"ez-toc-section\" id=\"curved_connector\"><\/span>Curved connector<span class=\"ez-toc-section-end\"><\/span><\/h3>\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Use a curved connector sparingly. Common causes include:<\/p>\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\"><li>shapes positioned too close together;<\/li><li>inconsistent connection points;<\/li><li>too many relationships occupying the same area;<\/li><li>objects aligned visually but not distributed evenly;<\/li><li>connectors added before the diagram structure was finalized.<\/li><\/ul>\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Try this sequence before adjusting every line individually:<\/p>\n\n<ol class=\"wp-block-list\"><li>Group related shapes into clear rows or columns.<\/li><li>Align the shapes to a common reference.<\/li><li>Distribute them evenly.<\/li><li>Attach equivalent connectors to equivalent sides of the shapes.<\/li><li>Adjust the elbow paths only after the structure is stable.<\/li><\/ol>\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">If several lines still need to cross, consider splitting the diagram across two slides or revealing relationships progressively. A diagram should explain the system, not prove that everything fits on one slide.<\/p>\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><span class=\"ez-toc-section\" id=\"can_you_add_custom_connection_points_in_powerpoint\"><\/span>Can you add custom connection points in PowerPoint?<span class=\"ez-toc-section-end\"><\/span><\/h2>\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">PowerPoint does not offer a dedicated <strong>Add Connection Point<\/strong> command like Microsoft Visio.<\/p>\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">You can use <strong>Shape Format &gt; Edit Shape &gt; Edit Points<\/strong> to modify the geometry of a shape. Connectors may then attach to the resulting points, but this is a workaround, not a separate connection-point editor. Moving or adding edit points can change the outline of the shape.<\/p>\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Before using this method:<\/p>\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\"><li>duplicate the shape as a backup;<\/li><li>remove complex effects temporarily so the points are easier to edit;<\/li><li>make the smallest possible geometry change;<\/li><li>check that the shape still looks correct at presentation size;<\/li><li>reconnect and move the shape to test the result.<\/li><\/ul>\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">For some diagrams, a small invisible helper shape can provide a safer attachment location than altering a branded or complex shape.
